George McNeish, 64, of London is peddling his bicycle and custom made trailer across the province to promote his book “The Alternative.” It’s an historic novel that looks at slavery and how it led to civil war. George is an advocate of world peace and is past chair of the Fugitive Slave Chapel Preservation Project. His first stop on the journey was to his brother, Tom, in Sebastopol, then to his 90-year-old father in Guelph. For details go to: thealternative.9li.ca

Oxford M.P.P. Ernie Hardeman serves local strawberries and ice cream at his annual Strawberry Social at peopleCare, Tavistock last Thursday afternoon to Joan and Ron Totten. Behind is their son, Scott Totten of Ingersoll. Ron was a tireless worker in Ernie’s last six election campaigns and is now a resident at the nursing home.
